SAPPHIRE GEM/ PLYMOUTH BLUE
I love everything about these birds! They start laying earlier than any other breed (at 4 months, is my record) their eggs are HUGE, they lay longer into the season than any others, they’re pretty and sweet!!
These are not recognized as a breed by the APA. They are believed to be a cross between Blue Plymouth Rock and Barred Rock. They’re also supposed to be easy to sex at hatch because of their coloring, but when you mix SG to SG (rather than the original mix of PB to BR) that may not be reliable, so I’m still selling them straight run.
Girls are shades of gray and blue, even going as dark as almost black. Males are grey and white striped.
They are overachievers, laying 260-280 eggs a year!
Straight run chicks $15, add $2 per week, coop ready 5 weeks old $25
hatchings eggs $4 each, local pick up only
