This beautiful heirloom was grown by Thomas Jefferson at his Monticello estate. The big 3 to 4 inch blossoms have satiny petals in a wonderful deep dark maroon that shades to pure black. Black Watchman’s is said to grow 5-7 feet on sturdy stalks but the plant I saved these seeds from was at least 8 feet tall! It makes a striking show in the garden with flowers that open slowly and last a long time.

Plant in a sunny location in well drained, humus rich soil with protection from strong winds, or be prepared to stake. They will cope pretty well with our hot and dry climate.

Package contains the equivalent of 2 seed heads.
